PLASTIC DREAM
PLASTIC DREAM is a dystopian performance, a reflection on our society unbalanced by the expansion of consumerism.
Using the body and space, artist Emanuelle Soum explores the consequences of an environment that has lost its natural balance, and in particular the intrinsic impact on living things. The over-use of networks and the absurd abundance of plastic become the dramaturgical material that moves this burlesque character. Plastic Dream plays with the multiple layers of this narcissistic persona.
Somewhere between live-video experimentation, plastic installation and choreographic performance, the trans-disciplinary dimension of this performance goes beyond social criticism, and questions what is created in space by these elements over-represented in our contemporary landscapes.
Like Narcissus falling into the water, the character 'drowns' in his perfectionism. In his quest to be more and more until he is no more, the artist shows the impact of the unnatural, the synthetic and the artificial on Life.
